Uppermill, Huddersfield- A Beautiful Countryside

Uppermill, Huddersfield

Uppermill is a village in Saddleworth- a civil parish of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, in Greater Manchester, England. The small town of Uppermill is on the northeast side of Greater Manchester. Tucked away in a valley of the Pennines on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, it is in a most picturesque location on the high moorland.

Uppermill is a popular stop for visitors to nearby Saddleworth and has a growing number of craft shops, restaurants and cafes to cater to the tourist market.  It has a local butcher's shop with local pies, a greengrocer's, bakery and bookshops. There is also a small supermarket, bank, Post Office, chemist and a regular Farmer's market selling local farm produce.

Stunning panoramic views make this a perfect romantic setting. Its the finest view in England. Enjiy unbroken peace and quiet along one of Britain's most charming landscapes. The Uppermill wends through some of the most tranquil and gentle countryside in England.

The canal which runs through the town offers many recreational pursuits. Traffic-free walks along the sidepath, fishing and boating are just some of the rural pleasures to be enjoyed  The canal has a couple of locks to manage the inclines and there is an impressive viaduct which passes beneath.

Once inhabited by the Romans, like many Lancashire towns it was the Industrial Revolution which had the most impact on the area, with the building of huge textile mills. Uppermill not only blessed with gorgeous countryside, historic buildings and that warm hospitality- there's some top attractions too.

I was delighted to see remnants of snow on the sides of the road. It was everywhere. There was no snow fall. The Uppermill is panorama of the charming scenes of nature. It brings a divine touch into human mind. Uppermill provides an intriguing mix of canal and riverside walks, quaint weavers cottages and cobbled squares, a range of independent shops and boutiques and plenty of opportunities for refreshment as its many pubs, cafes and restaurants.
